I wanted to convey the realistic light and shadow conditions, as well as the people having the conversation next to the fountain. But I also wanted to stretch the degree to which I attempt to simplify the scene. And a great way of simplifying, is painting with an immediate, alla prima approach. Everything is done in one go!
