I'd guess is it pretty old and there is a bit of roughness to the wood in a few spots on the reaming end
There is a bit of aging to the mat
So when I spotted this and one other of her prints at an antiques shop
my guess would be 1940s-50s
and writer who seems to have had a most fascinating life
Smiling Old Jointed Clothes Pin Man early 19th century painting I'd guess is it prettyA funny, happy little fellow, carved from a clothes pin I believe, with what I might guess is cigar box wood for his arms and legs, attached by wire and moving to and fro. Hes lost the toe of one black painted shoe but otherwise is in very good shape, with black tempera paint for his hat and face, slate gray for his shirt, and bright blue for his pants. 6 t x 1 1 8 wide, sound and not fragile, with a great dark dry wood patina to his face!
